A new season of life means new opportunities for change! As our client’s daughters prepared to leave for college, she knew her nest was ready for an update. By infusing a traditional style with a modern manner, we created a space that mixes a bit of old with the new. She already had a few unique pieces that were both beautiful and timeless which gave us the chance to modernize her living room while making sure it still felt like home.

We began by keeping the palette to hues of blue, white, and cream. These colors offer a timeless style while the patterned fabrics add a pop of fun. By placing flowers and plants throughout, it makes the space even more fresh and alive.

We wanted to keep the room simple and clean while also making it feel complete. By using more substantial pieces, such as the Bernhardt coffee table and elegant yet sizeable chairs, we created a sense of fullness without any clutter.

Everyone loves a good fiddle leaf, so we used them along with ornate 40-inch pots to create a sense of symmetry around the fireplace. The chairs simply needed an update. By reupholstering them with a soft, cream fabric from one of our favorite brands, Kravet, the room became brighter and once again allowed us to mix a bit of the old with the new.

Custom pillows and ottomans not only created a welcoming space, but it also gave this room a one-of-kind touch–not to mention some cushion! With plenty of comfortable seating, this room is just right for good conversation and a good laugh whenever her daughters pop in for a visit!

Designing this space meant bringing in a sense of newness and refreshment, but, more than anything, it meant making this room feel like home. We truly hope that our client and her family enjoy this space as they enter a new chapter together!
