Just because you are renting does not mean you can’t have a well designed and beautiful home! This client is a recent transplant to San Diego and is still learning the lay of the land. While she looks for the perfect home for her and her two adorable daughters, she is renting this four level home perched on a hillside above the beaches of Cardiff. With panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from all levels, the home is a a far cry from where they came. There is nothing that says “you’re home” quite like a San Diego sunset.
The second master of this dual master home is where most of our work was done. An avid reader (apparent from her extensive collection of books) our client wanted to use this spare room as an office, library and guest suite. By angling the desk, we made the most of her amazing ocean view. The warm mustard yellow helps the space seem as inviting as it is cozy.
Next step was the client’s bedroom! There was no need to replace her bed or linens, but we accessorized her nightstand and added some beautiful new statement lamps. The mirrors flanking her bed give the room an elegant, feminine feel that we just love! We also added a reading corner, featuring a cozy chair and unique ottoman.
Lastly, the main space! Rooms that flow from one area to the next take extra thought when space planning. It is easy to clutter as it is to leave the expansive space feeling empty. It’s key to measure well and add accordingly. From the rustic wood dining table to the rich pops of navy and green, we just adore this space. We placed shell artwork throughout to connect with the ocean views. The artwork helped to create interest and break up the large space.
