When we first visited our client’s hilltop San Diego home, it was just an empty house but filled with big dreams! When we saw the beautiful gray-washed wood floor we knew exactly what the color palette would be! We’d been dying to design a space using  cornhusk yellows and grays.  It was clear that they had purchased this sleek home with the dream of furnishing it with mid-century modern furnishings.  The aim was current, yet timeless. Functional yet high-end. And we couldn’t wait to get to work!

When it came to the great reveal, they walked through the door, and said with tears, “It’s perfect. I don’t want to change a thing.”  The outcome was exactly what we had hoped for, and there’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve got it right and made someone’s dreams come true.

We took our time thinking through the space with a critical eye. We used fewer accessories and artwork to keep true to the mid-century modern style, valuing simplicity to achieve the maximum impact in the space. Using less accessories allowed us to make statements with each piece of furniture; dramatic table lamps in a mustard glaze, an oversized coffee table, a  curved mahogany console table. Each piece echoing the mid-century modern influence.

The epitome of mid-century modern, this chandelier completes the dining room. It’s softly rounded vertical slats are so reminiscent of the style and time. We placed simple gray side chairs leaving the host chairs to make a real statement with their detailed and textured fabric.
