It’s no secret that Kauai is my favorite place to be–so when the opportunity to purchase another condo presented itself, we jumped at the chance! This our third project on the island of Kauai and even though designing a space 2,701 miles (of mostly ocean) from my studio comes with its trials, my love for Hawaii continues! In fact, I think it has only increased my desire to work there! Designing comes naturally when you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscape in the world.
We chose a different color palette for this condo and WAIT FOR IT… it’s blue and white! My absolute favorite! I’m not ashamed to say that blue is, without question, my favorite color to work with. From robins egg to navy, the color blue just speaks to me. And to top it off, navy is making a major comeback in the design world…so we went for it! We carried the color palette from room to room, using bright pops of green and a variety of natural woven pieces to add some texture.
There is something a little different about this specific space that makes it feel especially great. Maybe it’s that it’s set back from the bluff or that the unit is secluded, but something about it makes it feel more like a beach bungalow than a condo…and I love it!
